For those who wish to compare this translation with others he includes a fine bibliography of recent translations, and translations from the beginning of the 1900's. Dr. Bahm asserts in this volume that comparative philosophy seeks to achieve some "minimum of a world philosphy to which all can subscribe" and which "serves as an essential instrument for the understanding of human survival." Therefore, he defines what he means by comparative philosophy, its standards, values, history, subject matter and methodology.

Through comparison of the three diffferent world views he hypotheses a "Universal Agreements" conclusion. He examines what are the likenesses in these views rather than focusing on differences. Dr. Bahm discusses the notions of good, bad, truth, falsity, identity, will, reason, and the void.
